The Absolutely Mama Awards celebrate the best in style and innovative design in the baby and kids industry. They honour only the very best brands and products from trusted household names and pioneering start ups. From the list of finalist brands, the public vote on their favourites, and then a team of esteemed judges from the industry rigorously trial each product.

We were truly honoured to be included in the finalist line up, but, as a relatively new up-and-coming brand, the thought of a public vote was very intimidating as we were up against some huge household names in our categories like Stokke and Silver Cross, among others. Silver Cross products are used by the Royal Family and the brand has been around for a 150 years, and Stokke is a well known household name for young families.

So, when we found out that our organic cotton travel blackout blinds won the TOP PRIZE we were totally overwhelmed, with Silver Cross’s Nursery Set taking second place and Stokke’s Sleepi in third.

AWARD WINNING BABY BLACKOUT BLINDS

Category: Best nursery / interiors product. We were thrilled that our organic cotton baby blackout blinds won gold in this category. It’s not well known but conventional baby blackout blinds are made from PVC fabric, which leaches thousands of chemicals into the baby’s nursery, especially when warmed by direct sunlight. As blackout blinds are used so much in baby’s nurseries, and more often than not they are left in direct sunlight to block out the midday sun, it was so important to us to create a portable blackout blind which was truly non-toxic to ensure that the indoor air quality is not compromised.

Category: Most Eco-Friendly Brand. Our brand has a strong eco focus in every stage of production, across every product and throughout the business. Trying to be eco as a consumer these days is so hard unless brands produce more sustainable options for consumers to choose from. We therefore feel strongly that brands should take a greater responsibility to help protect the planet. Winning this award and having all of our hard work in this area acknowledged like this is such an honour.
